Leongatha football club was formed in 1894. The club played in various leagues until in 1969 The Parrots entered the Latrobe Valley Football League where the club has remained ever since, although the league itself has gone through some changes on the way to being now known as The Gippsland League. Leongatha has won 8 senior football premierships since joining the league with only Traralgon having won more in that time. The netball has also been very successful with A grade having won 6 Premierships since netball was introduced into the league in 1990. This again is only outdone by Traralgon who have won 7. For the smallest town in the comp, we bat well above our weight in both football and netball. The motto, 'victory through harmony'.
